Mystery Hikes

Could not find as much information as I wanted and what I did find was just a rehash of the same stuff. But I thought this was fairly interesting.

Somewhere around Sydney, Australia, a department store, F. J. Palmer & Sons, sponsored some organized mystery hikes in 1932 along with the NSW railways. Participants would gather at the Central Train Station and by train arrive at an unknown destination.

Here they would disembark and start their hike. Something like 5 hikes were arranged as each one grew in popularity. These were held on Sundays and one such adventure had 8,000 hikers.
