Rush Baseball

The Canadian rock band Rush started out in Toronto in the late 60s by Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart. With numerous Gold and Platinum records, they were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. The band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994.

Geddy Lee, although a great musician with high-pitched vocals, is also a huge baseball fan and can be seen behind home plate with a scorebook in hand at Toronto Blue Jays’ home games. He is also a collector.

The extremely fascinating baseball Lee has in his collection is the 3,000 hit ball. A baseball that has autographs of the members of the 3,000 hit club, including Ty Cobb, Tris Speaker, Pete Rose, and others.

He has several hand-painted baseballs done by, once umpire, George Sosnak. Mr. Sosnak never made the Major Leagues, so he painted. But before he decorated the ball he would send the baseball to a player to be signed. Geddy Lee’s collection contains several of these including Sandy Koufax’s perfect game.

Lee is also generous with his collection donating over 400 signed baseballs to the Negro Leagues museum in Kansas City. Autographs like Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and others.

Add to the fact of Lee being a diehard baseball fan, Tom Sawyer is a great player walk-up song.
