Email Scam

Wouldn’t you like to respond to email scams?

We all know what spam email is. We all get them whether your email provider has a great junk mail filter or not, it still gets through.

Working for the state, periodically I get a legit email saying that the state has released some information to these listed companies as a matter of public record. This includes my work email, among other things. So I get legitimate emails from these companies that I consider spam and delete properly.

But there are more sinister spam emails out there that people fall for all the time. Take the Nigerian prince email. This particular scam has been around way before the invention of email in one form or another.

According to CNBC in 2018, the Prince still rakes in over $700,000 a year. WOW.

The book The Confidence Game by Maria Konnikova talks about the Prince along with some very convincing Confidence Men.

While we’ve been so inundated with spam emails and most of us hardly glance at them before hitting the delete key, there are those that respond.

The following TED talk is one such very funny take on responding to spam. Enjoy.
