In the city of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, the Stratford Festival is held from April to October. Founded by Tom Patterson it is a theatre festival known for Shakespearean plays, similar to the plays in Ashland, Oregon.
As part of its accessibility initiative, the festival offers performances for people who need softer lighting and gentler sounds. Plus audio-described, ASL, and open caption performances.
The festival is not limited to just Shakespeare, in one showing of Billy Elliot the Musical, the theater held a very special audience. Service Dogs
Service dogs from the K-9 Country Inn in Meaford, Ontario, Canada attended the performance as part of their training. It provides an environment to see how well they handle noises and distractions. Also, dogs have to navigate their owners through crowds and tight aisles.
